This Cheyenne bandolier uses deer and elk hooves as sound producers.  Added to this are such items as thimbles, hawk bells, Victorian keys and buttons, coins and allotment shipment brass numbered tokens fro the Indian Agency on the reservation.   Also found are bullet casings, brass beads, glass beads, a silver lucky horseshoe on a chain, a beautiful pump drilled turquoise stone and a large shiny black rock with markings, one large Morgan dollar dated 1881, two crosses along with numerous red mescal beads, brass and iron tacks and other items too numerous to mention.

This unique Plains Indian grass dance bandolier was worn by groups of dancers who before a social or religious dance began would trample the grass flat while wearing these magical sound producing bandoliers.

Small Hopi Pots and Small Paintings

UCHIZONO GALLERY
This display case features Native American beadwork found in my online store, Uchizono Gallery.
I love small Hopi pots and small paintings.  This painting is by Plein Air painter Saim Caglayan and is one of
my favorites.  The location is Big Bend in Laguna Beach  and the painting is glowing with the lavender and gold colors
of early morning light.

This early turquoise bracelet looks well loved and worn.
My new favorite Zuni earrings.  They have been modified from their original screw backs, which
were behind the stars, and now the earrings hang upside down.
They are long, yet lightweight and touch your shoulders when worn.

Lilac Painting By Sawdust Festival Artist Rachel Uchizono

I love to use viridian, cerulean and magenta  when I paint. I don't use yellow very often and I am
starting to include more yellow objects when I set up a still life.  When I   garden I have avoided planting yellow flowers as well.  I have decided to make a change and include the color yellow in my life.  Does that sound strange?
UCHIZONO GALLERY
My Mother avoided yellow.  I used to think it was genetic and that was the reason I avoided yellow flowers,  but I have changed my mind.     Intent is a potent thing.  I am planting yellow roses tomorrow in the garden.
UCHIZONO GALLERY
This is my newest painting and I have listed it for sale online at Uchizono Gallery.
I am getting ready for the Sawdust Festival which opens on June 27 and runs until August 31.

Collectors Choice

UCHIZONO GALLERY
UCHIZONO GALLERY
UCHIZONO GALLERY
Green turquoise cluster rings are very appealing.  I find I collect as many examples as I can find.
Vintage turquoise cluster bracelets with a certain imperfect element that gives them their magic and soul are  irresistible and I have been collecting only the finest examples for  the last forty years.  My other obsession are antique and vintage earrings, preferably not too heavy  but still substantial and ornate in a style that seems primitive but is nonetheless timeless.

Omaha Wedding Hat With Green Turquoise

Beautiful green and red  Germantown rug with Omaha wedding hat and Hopi pot.  The green parrot feathers are
from a bird rescue in Laguna Canyon Acres.  My friend Frankie took me for a visit.  If you say "pretty bird" when arriving,  about fifty parrots will start singing opera, yell hello and tell you to move your car, all at once.   Very entertaining, for sure!
